Chor viril Surses seeks singers for a requiem honouring Pader Alexander Lozza

The Chor viril Surses is looking for male voices for its concert project 'Consolaziun e speranza' in March 2028. Two open rehearsals take place in Savognin in October.

Theres Zgraggen · Editorial profile

The Chor viril Surses is looking for project singers from central Graubünden and beyond for its concert project 'Consolaziun e speranza' (Consolation and Hope).1 The call is aimed at men who enjoy choral singing.1

The occasion is the 75th anniversary in 2028 of the death of Pader Alexander Lozza (1880–1953), the poet and Capuchin friar from Surses.1 At its heart is the 'Requiem for Solace' by Norwegian composer Kim André Arnesen. Alongside it come two new works by Graubünden composer Flavio Bundi: 'Cardentscha', based on a Lozza poem that has never been set to music before, and 'In Paradisum', written especially for the project.1

The choir will be joined by the Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden, with Rainer Held as musical director.1 The performances take place in March 2028 in Lantsch/Lenz, Chur and Zug.1

Next step: if you'd like to sing, you can sit in on two open rehearsals with no obligation, on 18 and 25 October 2026, both at 7.30pm in the Sala Grava in Savognin.1
