The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande brings its virtual reality offering to Geneva's Bibliothèque de la Cité

Since 26 September, two VR headsets with the OSR's “Virtual Hall” have been available free of charge at the Bibliothèque de la Cité. In October the orchestra will also open an annual residency in Évian.

The virtual reality application of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR) can now be tried out in a Geneva library: since 26 September 2026, two VR headsets with the OSR's “Virtual Hall®” application have been available to the public, freely accessible and free of charge, at the Bibliothèque de la Cité in Geneva.1

The headsets are in the library's music area, which already offers a piano, a drum kit and a hi-fi system. Staff hand them out during opening hours and help people get started with the application.1 The offering was launched in the presence of OSR director Steve Roger and Pierluigi Orunesu, founder of Cybel'Art, which developed the application.1

The OSR is also taking its concerts beyond its home venue: with the concert on 10 October 2026 at La Grange au Lac in Évian, it opens a residency there with one concert a year.2 The programme, which can also be heard two days earlier at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, features Kaija Saariaho's “Mirage”, Jean Sibelius's “Pohjola's Daughter” and “Luonnotar” and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 “Pathétique”. Eva Ollikainen conducts, with soprano Anu Komsi and Geneva-born Lionel Cottet, the OSR's principal cellist, as soloists.2
