Ticino awards three creation grants of CHF 20,000 each to musicians

The canton of Ticino is awarding up to three creation grants of CHF 20,000 each to musicians who want to create and publicly present new repertoire of their own. The call has been issued by the Ufficio del sostegno alla cultura (USC) and is open to all genres.¹

Individuals, groups and collectives from Ticino, or who have lived in the canton for at least three years, can apply.¹ The deadline is 12 noon on 9 November 2026, by email to decs-sc@ti.ch with the subject line “bando musica”.¹³ Successful applicants will be notified by 14 December 2026. The project must be created, produced and distributed by 31 December 2027. CHF 10,000 is paid at the start and CHF 10,000 on submission of the final report, which is due by 31 January 2028.¹

The grants are made possible by the revised cantonal culture law, in force since January 2026, and the new regulations, which have applied since September 2026. The Dipartimento dell'educazione, della cultura e dello sport (DECS) decides on the awards on the recommendation of an expert committee.³ Applications must include a biography, a musical and technical description, an outline budget and details of the planned release or performance, among other things.¹
